Through the Pine Trees
Painting by Keisuke Hayashi.
This is a painting inspired by the work of Itou Jakuchuu, a renowned Japanese painter from the mid-Edo period. Despite having no direct relation to Itou, Hayashi’s quiet yet strong painting conjures elements of Jakuchuu’s work. Hayashi became involved with Cocoroom’s Guesthouse, Garden and Café in 2004, where his work can be found in the walls of bathrooms. We then requested his work for Matsunoki. In his painting, animals and plants move with life as if they are emerging from the pine trees of a traveler’s dreams.
For the local life,
do-it-yourself travelers.

Currently, due to circumstances, we are unable to accommodate overnight stays. This site is open for viewing the works of Keisuke Hayashi, depicted on pine trees. If you would like to see the actual works, please contact info@cocoroom.org

A comfortable stay for one group.
For travelers with kids or friends.

At the end of the Doubutsuen-mae shopping arcade, “Matsunoki” is immersed in a nostalgic Showa period atmosphere. We transformed a traditional house, which used to also be a blowfish restaurant, into a guesthouse for one group of people. There is a kitchen, fridge and washing machine in the house. So you can continue your normal lifestyle. Matsunoki would be good for people with kids or a group of people.

You will be welcome to relax and play in the garden, have meals and participate in workshops all at Cocoroom.

ABOUT "COCO-ROOM"
Cocoroom is a nonprofit organization founded in 2003. We focus on making a space for encounters and expression, which takes the physical form of a café for various kinds of people to gather freely. Once a month we open the entrance up as a street clinic, organize the “Kamagasaki University of Arts”, which posits the neighborhood as a university, and hold many lectures in the local area. We opened a guesthouse in 2016.www.cocoroom.org
